Looking upriver near the mouth of the White River where it flows through a delta into White Lake.
The lighting of the overcast day seemed to lend itself to a Black & White treatment for this series. |
Fishermen like this spot on the marsh for catching bluegills and other panfish all summer long.

Swans
like to nest in the shallow waters of the river delta in the spring.
Herons and Egrets hunt small fish and frogs in the summer, and in the
fall Sand Hill Cranes lay over here for a few days during their
southward migration.

This is a view from above Lion's Park in Whitehall across the river delta toward Montague on the north side of the Lake.

The
boardwalk leading to marshside at the bottom of the hill in Whitehall's
Lion's Park. Early in spring, before the cattails get too tall,
visitors can watch swans on their nests and cygnets after they hatch
swim with the adults in the few patches of open water.

The
almost-deserted boat docks at the Whitehall marina. Every season there
seem to be fewer boats. If it weren't for the Sheriff's patrol
boats there wouldn't be any business here at all. The shoreline,
however, is a popular place for local fishermen.
