The
Starfire Family performed for a packed house at Sleepy Valley
Tuesday evening. A popular group, they appeared for two
performances last season and have a full schedule throughout the
Rio Grande Valley this season.
Here they pose for a "Kodak Moment" at the beginning of the concert. |
Fifteen year-old Jalen plays stand-up bass, bass guitar and lead.
|
John,
family patriarch, sings bass and plays lead guitar. He performed
a memorable rendition of Chantilly Lace along with many other
selections from the 50's and 60's rock and roll.
|
The nearly full-house shows its appreciation for a very entertaining performance.
|
Sue,
the primary spokesperson for the group plays drums, lead guitar,
keyboards, tenor saxaphone and performs vocals. Here she appears
in one of her many costumes during the concert.
|
Josiah,
"Joe," youngest member of the family has, in the short span of four
years, learned to play drums, perform vocals and...
|
...play
violin on which he performs a rendition of "The Devil Went Down
to Georgia" that could stand up to a Charlie Daniels performance.
|
Joe
also plays bass and lead guitar. John announced that before the
family came south for the winter Joe "bought himself a Cello."
On the "off" season Joe studies music at Lawrence University in Appleton, WI. |
Sue
appears in a "Bobby Soxer" costume for a selection of tunes many of the
audience members first heard during their high school years, including
"My Boyfriend's Back."
|
To close the concert, Joe gets intimate with the audience playing a couple popular fiddle tunes down on the floor.
