Driving
back to Montague from my brother's house a couple days ago, I couldn't

farmlands.
This is a view across a swamp in Mecosta County, near a lake of the same name. |
Red
Maples are among the first to display their autumn color and they are particularly brilliant when contrasted against green
leaves yet unturned - especially when viewed against a setting sun.

Near
the White River, yellow and green dominate the landscape. The
path created by fisherman reminds me that trout only live in

The water runs crystal clear beneath the bridge that crosses the River at M-20 near Hesperia.
|

|
Autumn color in the north woods is part of what makes trout streams so special.
|
 South
of Fremont I saw this farm market with a beautiful tree line on the
ridge behind a pasture where exotic animals were grazing. |
It's rare to see American Bison anywhere, but even more so east of the Mississippi.
|
With his magnificent rack, this Elk is an impressive animal.
|
I don't know what breed this cow is, but the long hair makes it looks prehistoric.
|
This
pond next to Holton Road in Muskegon County reflected the last of
the day's vibrant color as the sun was beginning to set just beyond the
tree line.
