Michigan Color in Autumn

Illustration of colorful treesThis set is for my friends, Jim and Gail, who live in Texas this time of year, but miss the colors of autumn in the north country.

Ferns on the forest floorThe pictures were all taken along two lane highways and back roads in Muskegon County, Michigan during the past several days.

Maple treeThe trees this year have been especially colorful, unfortunately the days have been mostly cloudy to overcast.

Entrance to Pioneer ParkThe entrance to Pioneer County Park north of the city of  Muskegon.  At this time of year it's not difficult to get dramatically colorful photos wherever you look.

Poplar treePoplars always produce brilliant yellows, poplarly known as Aspen in Colorado, they're also beautiful in Michigan.

Maple treeMaples offer up brilliant reds, nicely complimenting the yellow poplars.

Red leavesOrange leaves contrasted against yellowing green leaves command the camera's attention.
