Huge
roller breaks against the south pier head at the end of the White Lake
Channel while spectators take photos from a position on the pier that
could quickly become dangerous.
|
Even the sea gulls like to play in the breaking waves. (Note the sea gull in the upper right corner of the breaking wave.)
Rollers such as these are more common later in the fall and winter. |
Wave breaks over the north pier head and light.
|
A
large wave splashes over the sea wall and high lights a pair of
tourists on its way to the beach just outside the White Lake Channel.
A following wave is only a few feet from crashing into the end of
the pier head.
|
The
group of spectators at the base of the navigation light are dressed in
wet suits and life vests. The waves crashing nearly thirty feet
over their heads have the potential of washing them off the sea wall
into the rough surf and a powerful rip tide.
