Bike Time 2011

Muskegon, MI

July 16, 2011

Motorcycles on Western Ave

This year's festsival is reported to have attracted more than 90,000 people and more than 35,000 motorcycles.  Saturday afternoon, bikes lined ten blocks on  Western Avenue from Terrace Street to Seventh Street "Steel Horse Alley."

A continuous parade of motorcycles crept along the alley throughout the day.

Motorcycles and people lined "the Alley" as far as the eye could see.

Motorcycles, people and food vendors

Food vendors appealed to nearly every taste from cajun and Mexican to Greek and Chinese.

Bubba Cooker

A variety of "bubba cookers" and grills kept a smoky haze and delicious aroma of great food in the air all afternoon.

People on parade

People as well as bikes were on parade.

Customized motorcycle

Beautifully customized bikes were particularly attractive to this young biker.

At the other end of the spectrum were the motorized bycles.

Painted gas tank

Details in the paint and chrome were the highlight of the show for me.

Bike washers

Another visual highlight toward the end of the afternoon was the bike washing station

Live Music

Live music was available in beer tents throughout the weekend.  Entertainment included a performance by the Marshall Tucker Band to open the Festival Friday night and Brian Howe, former lead singer with Bad Company, headlined the program Saturday night.

This seemed to be a fitting end of the afternoon at the show for me.
